Gluten free and refined sugar free, this paleo banana bread still feels indulgent. With a great texture, it's a tasty breakfast treat or snack. * Recipe on

I keep one and a half lists of recipe ideas at any given time. One and a half at the moment, but I’m slowly merging the two for simplicity’s sake. “Merging” the lists mainly means that I’m working through what’s left on one so I can go paperless for my recipe idea tracking. One of the items on my little paper list though, is a good gluten free banana bread. The more I thought about it though, the more I decided I had to make a paleo banana bread and not just a gluten free banana bread. First of all, I make some really good paleo baked goods, and second because why not? In my opinion, natural sweeteners make for a better banana bread anyway. (more…)

Guava Cheese Braided Bread

A favorite from my bakery days, guava cheese braided bread is a sweet braided bread filled with sweet guava and cream cheese – a classic Cuban flavor combination!

Guava Cheese Braided Bread is a Cuban twist on a brunch favorite! This easy sweet bread makes a lovely breakfast, snack, dessert, or neighbor gift! Get the recipe and a video tutorial on

This recipe is going up on the blog by request of one of my former bakery clients. Whenever I would have the guava cheese braided breads on the menu, she’d have me set at least one aside for her to pick up. As much as I love blogging, I do miss the lovely conversations and relationships I built at the farmer’s market with my little pink tent. So of course, when {S} requested that I share the recipe, I decided it would make it on the blog, because why not? I hope you enjoy this glimpse into the Goodie Godmother’s “vault” recipes. (more…)

Whole Wheat Crumpets

Whole wheat crumpets get a bit more fiber from wheat flour, and honey adds a little twist to this surprisingly easy bread recipe! It’s freezer friendly and easy to follow so even newer bread bakers can achieve delicious results.

Whole wheat crumpets are a delicious bread you can make at home! Perfect for new bread bakers. *

I tried making crumpets once, years and years ago, and it didn’t turn out right, so I just bought them. That is, until I stumbled across my friend Brian’s recipe on his blog, Krumpli. Random side note, krumpli means potato in Hungarian, a friend of mine taught me that the other day. I have a soft spot for trying recipes based on childhood memories, and reading his crumpet story, I knew I had to make them. I also knew the results would be different than last time because he worked on his recipe until it matched his memory. And that, my dears, usually indicates a wonderful recipe.  (more…)

Gingerbread Loaf Cake

Moist, spiced, gingerbread loaf cake is a mouthwatering way to start the Christmas baking season! This recipe makes the house smell amazing!

Last year, a girlfriend asked me if I had a good recipe for gingerbread. She wasn’t referring to a gingerbread cookie, she was looking for a gingerbread loaf cake that one slices to serve with coffee or cocoa. And you know what? I didn’t have a recipe, and I was so swamped that I just didn’t get to it until this year, but I think it was worth the wait. I’m planning on making a loaf to enjoy the day after Thanksgiving when we will eschew the Black Friday shopping and instead decorate our Christmas tree! (more…)

Whole Wheat Apple Muffins

Whole wheat apple muffin recipe. This makes really delicious, moist muffins with LOADS of fresh apples! Recipe on

A friend of mine messaged me a few weeks ago to ask if I had a good apple muffin recipe, because her tree is producing a lot of apples this year, but she hadn’t yet found an apple muffin recipe with enough apple to suit her tastes, and was hoping I’d have a different option for her to try. I did not, but I do now… I hope you like it {S}! (more…)
