Fresh cranberries and in-season pomegranates make a perfect pairing in this easy slow cooker pomegranate cranberry sauce recipe!
Last year, I really fell in love with fresh cranberries. I put cranberries on baked brie, in orange bars, scones, nothing was safe! In fact, our cranberry sauce last year was just an extra batch of the topping I made for the baked brie. But this year, when I picked up fresh cranberries, I wanted something different. Having just been lured into purchasing a small mountain of gorgeous ruby pomegranates, combining cranberries and pomegranates into a sauce only seemed natural. I’m glad to report that the results are delicious, and with the help of a slow cooker, easy! (more…)
White Russian Pecan Pie – inspired a little by happy hour, a lot by a road trip, this unique pecan pie recipe is amazing! It’s a must for our Thanksgiving table.
Have you ever had a dish so good at a restaurant you had to go back, even if it was out of your way, just to eat it again? This is what happened with us and this White Russian Pecan Pie. Actually, it wasn’t just the pie, we had to go back for all the amazing food. Last year, the Godfather and I stopped by Julia Belle’s Restaurant at the Pee Dee Farmer’s Market in Florence, South Carolina. It’s a tiny little place with some of the absolute tastiest food we’ve enjoyed on the road. So good, we knew it was a stop on the way home before we even started our vacation. Julia Belle’s is where I first heard of a White Russian Pecan Pie. (more…)
Somewhere between potatoes au gratin and the Hasselback potato, this ranch Hasselback potato casserole is a tasty side dish with everything you love about both dishes. Crispy potato edges and a creamy, cheesy sauce.
The NYT Food section sends me on “I must make this!” cooking tangents more often than I should admit. Like last year, when they posted a recipe for a Cheesy Hasselback Potato Casserole and, after I showed it to the Godfather, it was dinner. Not a side dish, just dinner. With an egg. Thorough enjoyment ensued and the Hasselback potato casserole replaced au gratin potatoes and Hasselback potatoes in our home. At least, for the moment, as we have neither too frequently. (more…)
A simple baked mashed potato croquettes recipe is a great way to reinvent leftover mashed potatoes from your holiday meals.
A few weeks ago I posted a recipe for bacon brie mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes make a fabulous holiday side dish, but leftover mashed potatoes aren’t always a hit with everyone. I personally love leftovers of all kinds, but the Godfather isn’t as much a fan of certain side dishes rewarmed as is. Mashed potatoes are one of those dishes, so we use leftovers in shepard’s pie, mashed potato pancakes, or these baked mashed potato croquettes (croquetas). (more…)
This pumpkin chai tiramisu is an easy no-bake autumn dessert with just the right hint of chai tea!
I was discussing fall desserts with my baby sister one day and she suggested a pumpkin tiramisu. I loved the idea! The thing is, baby sister doesn’t like coffee, at all, and if I make a dessert she inspired, it should be something she’ll eat. I thought about it a bit, and remembered my pumpkin chai macarons. Drawing inspiration from those flavors, I decided to whip up a delicious pumpkin chai tiramisu! (more…)
