Sweet and salty are a wonderful combination and make these maple bacon doughnuts a treat that won’t last long!
I’m getting a little antsy to start posting the fall recipes, clearly. I have a few summer-ish recipes still coming, but the weather is starting to show the first signs of cooling (some days) and college football just started. So… fall flavors it is! And from the looks of it, maple bacon is an any season flavor for many of you. Then there’s the crazy deliciousness that is the homemade doughnut, and lots of people are off today, so you even have time to make this! Forget burgers, let’s celebrate with maple bacon doughnuts! Apple butter and cinnamon are two of my favorite fall flavors. I’ve combined them in these apple butter cinnamon rolls!
Do you know what I just realized darlings? Cinnamon rolls have a season for me, as I seem to make them most in the autumn! Well, at least I tend to make them mostly with autumn flavors mixed in (like these pumpkin cinnamon rolls). In full disclosure, these apple butter cinnamon rolls were baked over 4th of July weekend as breakfast one morning for visiting family. But the flavors are most definitely fall. (more…)
It feels like summer started 5 minutes ago, and yet here I am making sure all the school supplies are ready for Princess A’s first year of pre-school. To the seasoned parents, this may not seem like much, but two days a week is a big step for us. I’m so excited for this new chapter. I’ve always loved back to school preparations! When I have extra mashed sweet potatoes or sweet potato casserole on hand, I like to whip up a batch of these savory sweet potato waffles. Easy to make, and freezer friendly, they’re a fabulous way to reinvent leftovers!
Sweet potatoes are wonderful, aren’t they darlings? I love to experiment with recipes, but favorites will always include a good sweet potato casserole and basic mashed sweet potatoes. It’s comfort food with a twist, and a great way to use the 3 or 4 potatoes you happen to find *after* you buy more sweet potatoes at the store. Not that this is personal experience speaking or anything. The good news is, should you find yourself with extra sweet potato casserole or mashed sweet potatoes, I have a fabulous leftover remake recipe for you in these savory sweet potato waffles! (more…)
This Tinkerbell inspired smoothie may not give you the ability to fly, but its nutritious ingredients and lovely layering do make days a little more magical!
Confession time! I’m terrible at making themed foods. Pinterest mom I am not. BUT… I really like the idea behind themed food. Recently, I read a post in a Facebook group where this creative mama makes themed dinners for family “movie nights” for her girls and I LOVE the idea. I can’t wait to try this out once little one gets a bit older and branches out to different movies. Right now we like Cars, and only Cars.
Anyway, I was talking to Tara at An Aiming High Wife about possible recipes to make with a plethora of pineapple, and she suggested a smoothie. She’d recently made a Rapunzel inspired smoothie for her daughter, and I wanted to do the same! Well… sort of, because I really like green smoothies and also had to use some spinach I had on hand.
