The weather outside is frightful, but hot chocolate macarons are sure to warm your heart – delightful fireplace burning or not.
Hot chocolate and soup are my two favorite cold weather comfort treats. When I see temperatures dropping, I make sure I have ingredients on hand for both hot chocolate from scratch and from a mix, and wait for the perfect chilly evenings to snuggle up on the couch sipping cocoa from a mug. Marshmallows optional. As we discovered last year though, I can get a little over-zealous in the purchase of hot chocolate mix, meaning it finds its way into baked goods. My caramel hot chocolate brownies were such a hit last year, I decided to experiment a bit this year and make hot chocolate macarons! (more…)
These salted caramel chocolate chip cookies are easy to make and disappear in no time! They’re one of my favorite modern twists on the classic chocolate chip cookie.
We’re in the middle of putting a lot of “finishing touches” in our home. Partially it’s because – 10+ years into marriage – we are slowly phasing out the hand-me-down furniture, and in part because many things just didn’t fit when we move into our current house. Darlings, we still had boxes of college textbooks… from our undergraduate years! Kudos to you if you can tell me when I’ll ever use differential equations in my current line of work. I definitely didn’t when making these salted caramel chocolate chip cookies! (more…)
Break out the cast iron and make an Earl Grey chocolate chip skillet cookie! This easy cookie cake is a perfect cool weather comfort dessert.
I absolutely adore using tea in my baking. Tea and sweets pair perfectly, so why not get creative and add the spices directly to baked goods? Last winter, a few blogger friends of mine posted skillet cookies, and I knew I needed to make one. When I acquired a gorgeous enamel cast iron skillet, it was time. (more…)
This fabulous unique caramel corn recipe was inspired by my favorite Girl Scout Cookie, the Samoas (or Caramel D’Lites). The last batch of samoas caramel corn I made disappeared in minutes!
Ever since I whipped up a batch of chai tea caramel corn and realized how easy it was to make caramel corn at home, I’ve had so much fun experimenting with recipes! Last Christmas, I shipped care packages to family with snacks, and included my s’mores caramel corn and this Samoas caramel corn. The recipe didn’t go up last year because the caramel corn I saved for pictures disappeared too quickly. I had to make this recipe at least 3 times to get pictures, everyone loves it! (more…)
A perfect treat for the essential oil lovers, these wild orange essential oil truffles make a delightful dessert or edible gift idea!
I recently started using essential oils for a few things around the house. I use primarily the well-known ones like lemon, lavender, and tea tree, but I bought a bottle of wild orange on a whim after smelling it at a friend’s house. I’m sure it has some sort of homeopathic use, which I will leave the more oil-savvy people to explain, but I like it to add fragrance to things. I made some organic body butter for gifts, and I’ll diffuse it because it smells nice. So nice that it inspired me to use it to flavor some impromptu dark chocolate truffles that turned out so good, I took a few pictures to blog. (more…)
